French actress Isabelle Huppert has been selected as president of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival jury.
She will head the jury that chooses the winner of the prestigious Palme d’Or prize.
Huppert, whose career spans four decades, says she is “very glad and very proud” to be involved in the Festival.
The actress, who has won the best actress prize at the Festival twice, says: I’ve had a long relationship with Cannes and this next meeting will definitely seal my love for the festival and thus for global cinema.”
She has twice been a member of the jury and fourteen of her films have been entered for competition at the Festival.
Huppert succeeds Sean Penn as head of the jury. She will be the fourth woman to head the jury in the Festival’s 62-year history.
